Effective today, the university has implemented a number of changes to its Title IX process as required by the final rule under Title IX that was released earlier this summer by the U.S. Department of Education.
- The university’s Discrimination and Harassment Policy has been amended to incorporate a new definition and scope of behavior that is prohibited by Title IX.
- Any sexual misconduct matters that now fall outside of the new definition or scope of behavior will be investigated by the same process as before for faculty and staff, and under a new Student Gender Equity Grievance Process for students.
- Four new processes will be implemented:
- Faculty Title IX Grievance Process
- Staff Title IX Grievance Process
- Student Title IX Grievance Process
- Student Gender Equity Grievance Process (for other student matters that do not meet the new definition or scope)
To reflect the addition of non-Title IX responsibilities, the Title IX office will be renamed the Gender Equity and Title IX Compliance Office. Staffing for the office will remain the same.
Students who need support should contact the Habif Health and Wellness Center or the Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP) Center.
Support for faculty and staff is available through Work-Life Solutions or by contacting us.
